I've tried adjusting the shoulder and neck controls and I still cant seem to work the unnatural bounce out of his head. I tweaked the hip rotation to try and make the back legs pop less, let me know if its still popping to you. As usual, any other critique is always valued.

Saloni - a few doubts cleared

Hey all,

I had some doubts I asked Mr. David and here are his answers:

questions:

I had a doubt with the tutorial instructions:

1. It says, copy the root Ty to the hip n chest....which controls does this mean? 

2. Also, moving the Tx for the feet:  do the front legs go opposite to each other and in sync with the opposite hind leg?

answers:

1. ct_rearTorso_CTRL (hip) and ct_frontTorso_CTRL (chest). be sure to delete the Y animation off of the main controller when you do this: otherwise you'll get a double transform (big up and down)

2. when the front R foot is at the forward position, the back L foot is also at the forward position.

Trying to get a little work in on my horse before I go to work. Only started the y:rot on the hips regarding week 2 criteria. Wanted input on the legs before I preceded further. I feel like there's something off with the back legs and a possible slight hitch on the front ones. Input/critique would be appreciated.

Also - I was curious if anyone has noticed some playback issues with .avi v .mov. When I am doing my maya playbacks, .avi seems to play through much smoother than my quicktime movies of the same scene.

Hey everyone. Progress thus for for this week. I had weirdness trying to duplicate the cycle which makes it look at little extra off on the timing. The front legs look like they're popping a little and also floaty. Critique is always appreciated.

I'm working on trying to get it to be not so 'poppy'. If I make the trans y on the hips and chest not so sharp, it makes him look too light. So I'm having trouble finding a good balance.

INSTRUCTOR POST - Welcome New Students!

Welcome to the AAU Fall Semester of 2013

This is a persistent online site I use to allow students in my class to solicit and offer feedback on their animation. There are a few important notes;

1. Conduct yourself here as you would in the class. Play nice with others and be supportive and constructive with your comments. Limit the posting to information relevant to the class.

2. I use participation here as part of your class participation mark. Participation accounts for 20% of your total grade! If you're shy this is a great way to be involved in the classroom discussion. You get points for posting your work or for giving feedback on other people’s animation. Bonus question: ask me how to get 100% on your participation grade.

3. Title each post with your name, for example: “David Latour: Blocking Pass 1”. Your blogger ID may not be something I recognize.  You don't want to miss out on participation marks when you post here.

4. This blog is as helpful as you make it. Be active with comments, post your work regularly and take advantage of this venue. Monitor this site at least once a week. I will use this as a forum to make general announcements and answer common questions, so you don't want to miss out. Any post from me will have "INSTRUCTOR POST - ..." in the title: make sure you read them carefully.

Even If you're new to blogging you'll find this a pretty painless and straightforward process. If you have something from class you'd like to show, use the following steps:

·         Playblast your work (16:9 ratio, 640x360, convert to .mov, with H264 compression)

·         Post the movie file on any video streaming site (YouTube, Vimeo)

·          Copy the “embed HTML” from the streaming site

·         In blogger click "new post" on the upper right corner of the screen and click on the "edit HTML" tab on the top right of the new post and paste the code in the window.

5. Blogger works best with Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome. If you have technical issues: try switching your browser. Make sure you login with the Google ID that you were invited with or you won’t be able to post or comment.

Every time someone adds a new post or comments on an existing one, I get a direct email. I try to look in here regularly and offer critique and guidance as well. This blog will be available to you as space allows, which means you will be able to continue posting here after the end of term. (You may even see former students offering feedback here.)
